A host of new hotels in Hamburg

Meeting and event planners have an expanded choice of venue and accommodation options with 19 hotels scheduled to open in Hamburg this year - more than double the amount that opened in 2017.
Germany’s second largest city is set to welcome a wide range of hotels from established brands, boutique venues to serviced apartments, beginning with The Fontenay which is scheduled to open this spring.

Designed by Hamburg architect Jan Storm, The Fontenay offers breath-taking views over the Alster Lake from its 131 rooms and suites, along with indoor and outdoor pools on the seventh-floor roof terrace. Prior to its imminent opening, The Fontenay has already been described as ‘one of the world’s hottest hotels’ by Australia’s Traveller magazine and, according to the hotel’s Managing Director, Thies Sponholz, the first reservations from guests all over the world have already been received. Located in its own private park in the city, the hotel’s conference facilities are across four rooms equipped with the latest in audio and visual technology.

The operator of the Gold Inn group will open their first hotel in Hamburg in the spring under the new GINN hotel brand. The GINN Hotel Hamburg Elbspeicher is a four-star hotel is located alongside the city’s famous River Elbe. The hotel has 130 rooms and suites and employs state-of-the art technology - guests can check out on their smartphones and tablets for example. The Ginn Hotel will also have two meeting rooms on the eighth floor with a terrace and views of both the river and city. The restaurant and Nightlife-Bar overlooking the Elbe River is tipped to become a popular night-time venue in Hamburg.

The 11-storey “my4walls” serviced apartment building is due to open in May with a total of 143 apartments featuring open-plan kitchens, 1960s-style furniture and smart-managed lighting and music systems. Aimed at both short term and long term guests (who can stay up to several months), services include a 24-hour reception, breakfast buffet, a cocktail bar, a gym, a launderette and self-storage for long-term tenants. Located opposite the city’s Holiday Inn Hamburg – City Nord, “my4walls” will operate a joint shuttle service with the hotel to Hamburg Airport.

A further eight hotels are also scheduled to launch in Hamburg in the first quarter of this year. These include:
• Jufa Hotel Hamburg HafenCity – a four-star, 200 room hotel located in the heart of Europe's largest inner-city development project, opening 1st May 2018. It has five workshop and seminar rooms, hosting up to 500 participants.
• Tortue Hamburg – 160 room boutique hotel, opening spring 2018 and offering a touch of ‘bohemian savoir vivre’. It has three meeting rooms (two with access to the balcony) and private dining salons
• Ruby LOTTI Hotel – 289 rooms, opening spring 2018. For music lovers, the hotel offers electric guitars for rent as well as its own radio station Ruby Radio. Adventurers can explore the city on the hotel’s own ‘Ruby bikes’.

Florian Gerdes, Marketing Manager Conventions at Hamburg Convention Bureau, explains: “Hamburg’s increased accommodation and venue options truly cement the city’s reputation as a formidable location for meetings and events. These new venues have an expanded offering for delegates – going beyond accommodation and meeting space, to offering activities, fine dining and transport.”
