Multi-star cooking team-building for the kick-off meeting at the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte

The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio (Lucca), renowned venue for corporate events thanks to both the wide disposability of fully equipped conference rooms and the incomparable Versilian atmosphere, keeps on diversifying its products and services for the MICE and hosted, on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 January, MCO International kick-off meeting, a Florence- and NYC-based multinational company.

This was, as the agency’s Managing Director and CEO Marco Papini explains, a complex event because it comprised several issues. “On the one hand our tenth anniversary and on the other our first internal meeting of this kind – from which the name Kick off meeting 1.0, which echoes the concepts of both “ten” and “first”.” There was also the need to celebrate the entry of two people in the team, who will take care of the communication strategies and will form a specialized business unit.

The choice fell on the Grand Hotel both for the variety of its spaces and for its top-quality services, as well as the reliability of the dedicated Mice department. Even the ongoing collaboration of the agency with the other hotel in the chain – the Hotel Brunelleschi in Florence – played a role. Eleven people participated.

Pride of the program was the cooking lesson on Saturday morning, which took place in the kitchens of the hotel under the direct supervision of chef Giuseppe Mancino, two Michelin stars. The Grand Hotel’s Il Piccolo Principe restaurant is one of the only 41 locals in Italy boasting the double star, and this adds an extraordinary value in an era when cooking team-buildings are big.

The chef followed the team-building step by step, and he finally decided not to proclaim a winner, having all the performances been excellent. “This seemed to me really significant,” comments Papini, “and totally in line with the event’s claim, One team one dream. Obviously, when such a judgment comes from such a chef, it takes on a greater meaning and certifies a successful path.”

The meeting ended with the utmost of participants’ satisfaction. The location has contributed not only with its exclusive services, “but also”, concludes Papini, “with its varied environments, its professional staff, its unique atmosphere.”
