Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa awarded grant to preserve the environment

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa
Funding will help to continue protecting Silhouette Island and supporting local community
Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa is delighted to announce that the hotel has been awarded extra funding by Hilton’s Travel with Purpose programme to help preserve the surrounding environment and support the local community.

As Labriz Resort & Spa is the only hotel on Silhouette island, the team take the utmost care to reduce the property’s footprint and aid in preserving the area’s fragile eco-system. The aim of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose programme is to encourage team members to become ‘intrapreneurs’ – entrepreneurs that create local solutions from within the company. Since 2013, more than 300 grants have been awarded globally, providing more than $800,000 to support projects around the world.

The grant comes after a year of successful conservation efforts by Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa. Environmental initiatives that are already in place include, reducing the resort’s energy and water consumption levels by 20% through a kitchen garden, which now provides 250kg of the restaurants weekly vegetables; reducing energy use by installing solar panels on the resort’s buggies to power them; and forming a partnership with the International Fund for Agriculture, to create ties between the resort and smallholder farmers and local fishermen.

Of this grant, Andre Borg, Labriz Resort & Spa General Manager has said, “I am delighted that our team has been given the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful project. The Travel with Purpose Action Grant will enable us to dedicate the time and resources necessary to help preserve the environment and support community projects in the Seychelles”.

With responsible tourism now frequently at the forefront of travellers minds, it has never been more important for the travel industry to ensure they are helping the local community, environment and economy.  This grant also comes at a particularly exciting time for the Seychelles as new direct flights from the UK are set to launch in March, making Labriz Resort & Spa a great destination for a now more easily accessible, environmentally conscious getaway.

Prices start from €310/ £275* in a King Garden Villa per night on a B&B basis. Prices at Silhouette Estate start from €3200/ £2841* per night on a B&B basis.
