Meliá Hotels International to open three new hotels in Thailand in next three years

Mr Escarrer, the Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, ended a productive tour of Asia with the announcement of future growth in the continent. Following an agreement with TCC Land Asset World, a member of the TCC Group and one of the largest business conglomerates in Thailand, three new hotels have been signed in the region.

Since opening Meliá Hanoi in Vietnam, MHI and TCC Land Asset World have developed a strong relationship based on trust and mutual growth, which led to the latest strategic agreement for future developments in Thailand. In the first three years of the new contract, the two companies will develop, in total, three hotels under the ME by Meliá, Paradisus Resorts and Sol Beach House brands.

The agreement with TCC Land Asset World marks a new phase in MHI’s Asia Pacific expansion strategy, a major focus for the Company, launching the first ME by Meliá and Paradisus Resorts hotels in Asia and first Sol Beach House in Thailand.

ME by Meliá
The opening of ME Bangkok will introduce the Asian and Thai market to ME by Meliá, a personality-led, lifestyle brand that seeks to fuse innovative style with local art, design, music and fashion.  The brand’s flagship property, ME London, encapsulates the philosophy of ME by Meliá by offering a personal guest experience, combined with striking architecture and interiors.

Paradisus Resorts
A luxury, all-inclusive Paradisus Resorts will open in one of the top holiday destinations in Thailand, with location to be announced. The resort will be the first Paradisus property to open in Asia, offering families and couples unrivalled indulgence through the brand’s Royal Service and Family Concierge amenities.

Sol Beach House
Sol Beach House Koh Samui will open within the next two years, following a renovation of the existing Imperial Boat House Koh Samui Hotel. The relaxed adult only resort will have 209 rooms, as well as 33 boat suites or rice barges converted into 91m₂ of chic accommodation.

Sol Beach House is one of the four signature concepts within the recently relaunched Sol Hotels & Resorts Brand, which caters to the evolving expectations of today’s modern leisure travellers looking for a sun and beach holiday, fitting into Thailand’s core target audiences.

The agreement also foresees further future growth both in Thailand, in destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui or Pattaya, and other countries due to synergies in service, hospitality values and culture that both companies share.

Gabriel Escarrer, Vice Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, commented, “We have always opted for a growth strategy accompanied by major local partners, and entering a market with extraordinary potential such as Thailand together with TCC Land Asset World meets all of our expectations. In addition, our companies share the same business philosophy, meaning that our brands and service culture perfectly matches the high standards of Thai hospitality.”

Mr Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, TCC Group, commented, "This agreement will deepen and strengthen a long-term relationship with Meliá Hotels International based on mutual respect and trust, and a shared concept of hospitality as a means of achieving growth and prosperity for our communities. We are convinced that the Meliá commitment to quality and innovation through its Paradisus Resorts, Sol Beach House and ME by Meliá brands will help place the exceptional range of hotels in Thailand in the avant-garde of the industry, adapting to new segments of urban and resort hotel guests.”
