Two new hotels to open in Iskandar City Square – one of the country’s fastest growing regionsMeliá Hotels International has announced two new hotels, Meliá Iskandar Malaysia and INNSIDE Iskandar Johor, to be added to its Malaysian portfolio in the area of Iskander. The City is located on 8.73 acres in the south of Johor state, close to Singapore and is one of the major drivers of economic development in Malaysia. Meliá Hotels International now has 28 hotels in Asia Pacific, either already open or scheduled to launch.
The hotels’ privileged locations are less than an hour drive from Johor (Malaysia) and Changi (Singapore) airports, as well as close to the high-speed train station and technology park in Nusajaya.
The new five-star Meliá Iskandar Malaysia (450 rooms), the first five-star hotel in Nusajaya, and four-star INNSIDE Iskandar Johor (350 rooms) will occupy two adjacent buildings and will provide facilities from restaurants to lounge areas, a spa, fitness center and a swimming pool. The project lead by property company Rentak Tebrau Sdn Bhd and real estate holding company PJM, as one of the shareholders, will be complemented by a major shopping center and a 150,000 square meter convention center, complete with office buildings. The demands of the intense economic and technological growth in the region will be met for guests from both local and neighbouring countries, such as Indonesia and Singapore.
