Swire Hotels supports Earth Hour 2015 and go beyond

Swire Hotels including The Opposite House and EAST, Beijing; The Upper House and EAST, Hong Kong as well as stand-alone restaurant The Continental will participate in Earth Hour 2015 at 8.30 pm on 28 March, 2015 (Saturday).  Earth Hour is a global event created by the people for the planet, and the commitment made goes beyond one hour. It symbolises what can happen when the world acts together, and in celebration of the planet's future.

Each of the hotels will turn off selective lights to include decorative, façade and back office lighting. Guests will be informed of the initiative via iPad®, iPod touch®, IPTV, TVs and lobby LED screen and also by the Guest Experience Teams.  

Swire Hotels commits to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly hotels in an economically and socially responsible way.  Beyond Earth Hour, it is conscious of making a positive difference to the environment by, among other initiatives, remaining as paperless as possible.  Swire Hotels has taken various environmental measures in the hotel operations on daily basis including Paperless check-in/out; iPad®, iPod touch® or IPTV in every room replacing printed hotel directories. There is also the use of eco-friendly BMW I3 electric car at The Upper House, daily e-newspaper upload on iPod touch® at EAST, Hong Kong and iPad® at The Opposite House.
