Wedding open day at a Solihull hotel

The creator of a Solihull cake business will be among the exhibitors at a wedding open day at a luxury hotel.
Sam Pierce, who set-up The Cake Stand Solihull four years ago from the former dining room of her home, will be bringing examples of her latest delicious delights to Hogarths Hotel & Restaurant on Sunday, January 11.

Other suppliers of wedding-inspired services, including Redditch-based Lili Floral Art, will be coming along to talk to brides-to-be and their fiancées at the four-star venue in Four Ashes Road, Dorridge.

Guests will be greeted with a glass of bucks fizz and canapés before having the opportunity to discover the hotel’s romantic island and kissing bridge for outdoor weddings as well as tour the hotel, talk to wedding co-ordinators and visit a number of suites which will be set-up as if a wedding is taking place.

Sam said she would be exhibiting a number of new designs for the forthcoming year and handing out samples for visitors to try her cakes for themselves.

“I have been working on a number of new designs including one which looks like a chalk board with black icing and writing with white chocolate, a chocolate wedding cake instead of the traditional icing cake, a new ruffle cake and another which has a floral theme,” she said.

“The business is growing each year and my dining room is now my cake studio. Not only do I use it to bake cakes but I run cake decorating workshops so that I am busy all year round and not only during the traditionally busy summer months.

“I am delighted to be an official supplier at Hogarths because it is a truly great wedding venue.” Hogarths Hotel’s wedding open day, which takes place between noon and 4pm, will also include a fashion show organised by My Fair Weddings.

Steven Quick, general manager at Hogarths Hotel & Restaurant, said its wedding open day was always well attended.

“It is a perfect opportunity for couples who have become engaged over Christmas and the New Year to come along to explore our fantastic wedding venue and talk to suppliers who can provide inspiration for their special day,” he said.

“Our experienced wedding co-ordinators will be available to show visitors around the hotel and our grounds and there will also be special offers available for any couples who wish to book on the day.”
