Taste the World issued by Relais & Chateaux

It leads readers through the delights offered around the globe

Taste of the World is the name of a new guide issued by Relais & Chateaux. In words and images it gives a flavour of what can be offered by member properties in every part of the globe. With a preface from Philippe Gombert, International President of Relais & Chateaux, the publication aims to invite readers to ‘discover unknown regions and unexpected lands. From a hot air balloon flying over the valley of Göreme in Cappadocia, to the charm of seclusion in New Zealand, to British Columbia, where the mountains touch the sky, or even experiencing the shimmering colours of a preserved Morocco, or enjoying a seducing Provence which exudes the scents of lavender.’

The articles cover all aspects of what the member hotels mean by quality of service, food and facilities. It states: ‘By tasting the world, we accept the appeal to our five senses and trigger our curiosity to inhale the fragrances of a country and succumb to the ecstasy of its savours. From an infusion with white lotus flowers created by Kyoung-Won Park in her restaurant in Seoul, to the seaweed served with scallops by Andrew Fairlie in Scotland, the chefs have always highlighted their region by disclosing the gems of their terroir.’

As many as 36 new member properties have recently been admitted to the umbrella organisation, bringing in two new destinations: The Maldives and Hong Kong.

At the launch of the publicaation, the organisation’s 12 annual trophies were awarded. They cover such diverse areas as Innovation, Woman of the Year, Chef, Passion, Spa, Environment, with a new trophy sponsored by BMW for Route de Bonheur (Road of Happiness).
