Ascott to open its first Citadines apart’hotel in South Korea

The Ascott Limited will open its first Citadines property in South Korea in 2015. The Citadines Haeundae Busan will be Ascott’s largest property globally with 468 apartment units. This will bring its total number of Citadines properties worldwide to 79 in 49 cities.

Busan is South Korea’s second largest city and the world’s fifth busiest seaport, with thriving shipbuilding and oil and gas industries, driving a growing expatriate community. It is also home to BEXCO, one of South Korea’s largest exhibition and conference centres, which will be in walking distance of the new Citadines property. The Citadines Haeundae Busan is perfectly located for business travellers and is close to local and international transport links.

The property is equally well placed for leisure travellers, with the popular Haeundae beach nearby and Shinsegae Centum City, one of the largest department stores in the world.

Mr Lee Chee Koon, Ascott’s chief executive officer, said: “We have been looking for opportunities to expand our presence in the market and see great potential in introducing our Citadines brand in South Korea. While Somerset Serviced Residence caters to expatriate families, Citadines Apart’hotel provides an ideal home for independent travellers, with comfortable spaces and a flexible menu of services that guests can choose from to suit their lifestyle needs.”

Citadines Haeundae Busan will offer guests studio and one-bed apartments as well as facilities such as a gym, breakfast room and a rooftop garden. It will form part of a new development with shops and a cinema. Residents can enjoy a comfortable home away from home whether they are staying for weeks or for years.
