GoldenEye Resort, Jamaica launches 'Footsteps of Fleming' package in celebration of new historical book on his life, work and inspiration

14th August 2014 will see the release of GOLDENEYE Where Bond was Born; Ian Fleming’s Jamaica by critically-acclaimed author Matthew Parker – a beautifully written, thoroughly researched and original account of a comparatively neglected but crucially important part of Ian Fleming’s life and work. The book explores the Jamaica that Fleming discovered and how it inspired him, revealing why so much of Bond leads back to the island and how its influence infuses the thrilling novels that Fleming is so revered for. 

In celebration of the book’s release, GoldenEye Resort has created a package that allows guests to follow in the footsteps of Fleming and enjoy his Jamaican home just as he did and will be available for bookings from the day of the book’s release, Thursday 14th August:
Stay 7 nights in either the Ian Fleming Villa or a One Bedroom Beach Villa and enjoy:
• Guided snorkelling on Fleming’s beloved ree
• A fishing excursion with local fishermen on a traditional wooden hand-painted fishing canoe with catches from the day being cooked on guests’ return
• A private tour of Noel Coward’s home Firefly followed by cocktails and canapés whilst savouring some of the island’s most magnificent views
• A guided local Jamaican Nightlife tour visiting authentic rum bars, enjoying the vibe and meeting locals
• Meeting GoldenEye gardener Ramsey Dacosta who used to work for Commander Fleming and has some wonderful tales to tell
• A Bond movie night and private bonfire on the beach rounds off the stay

If opting to stay in the Fleming Villa, guests can truly immerse themselves in the history of the home that Fleming built and the birthplace of Bond. Additional experiences included in the package for those staying at the Fleming Villa are:
• Dinner in Fleming’s favourite spot – The Sunken Garden – overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea
• Swimming and relaxing on Fleming’s private coral beach where he and his friends would swim every mornin
• Sit at Fleming’s original commanding desks which take pride of place in the master bedroom and the lounge
• Enjoy Martinis – shaken, not stirred of course – as the sun sets Activities such as a guided Jet Ski safari, learning to mix the perfect martini, and speedboat rides can also be added to enhance the Bond experience even further.
