Ascott opens 2 new properties in Beijing

The Ascott Limited (Ascott), the world’s largest serviced apartment owner-operator, has secured two contracts to open and manage the first Citadines-branded serviced residence in Beijing and a third Somerset-branded property in the city as a direct result of the new strategic alliance formed with Beijing Vanke Co. Ltd. (Vanke) – one of China’s largest property development companies.  Set to open in 2017, these new properties will further strengthen Ascott’s leading position as the largest owner-operator in China, currently operating more than 10,800 apartment units in 60 properties across 20 cities

Citadines Daxing Beijing is part of the Beijing BCDH Vanke Plaza building and well-located in the south of the city.  It is surrounded by a variety of attractions, office buildings and is 15 minutes’ drive from the Beijing Daxing Capital Golf Club.  Communications across Beijing are quick and easy via the nearby Beijing Subway Daxing Line.  It is equally convenient for the railway station and the city’s second international airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, which is due to open in 2018.   The residence will offer 157 spacious studio- to two-bedroom fully-equipped apartments with separate work and sleep areas.  Residence facilities will include a business centre, breakfast and residents’ lounges, gym, sauna, spa and a children’s playground.

Somerset Shunyi Beijing will open in a prime location in walking distance of the city’s tube Line 15 station and 10 minutes’ drive from Beijing International Airport.  Surrounded by international schools and a variety of airline offices, the residence will offer guests a choice of 198 stylish apartments, a wide range of recreational facilities, organized lifestyle activities and business support services.  It joins existing Beijing sister properties Somerset Wangjing and Somerset ZhongGuanCun.

Mr Kevin Goh, Ascott’s Managing Director for North Asia said: ‘China remains our key growth market and strategic alliances with leading developers like Vanke will enable us to combine our expertise and industry knowledge to create mutually beneficial partnerships. Beijing is one of the most important economic centres, transport and communications hubs in China where more than 300 Fortune Global 500 companies have established their headquarters or branch offices. The addition of the two new properties will serve the market well and further strengthen Ascott’s foothold in Beijing.’

Including the two new contracts, Ascott now manages a total of four serviced residences with almost 700 apartment units for Vanke, including the premier Ascott Midtown Suzhou (opened April 2014) and Somerset Wuxi (to open 2015)
