Frankfurt’s Radisson Blu Hotel adds 700 sqm of meeting and events facility

Radisson Blu Hotel, Frankfurt, an award-winning architectural landmark, has added a further 700 sqm to its 1000 sqm event space, creating 7 new state-of-the-art flexible meeting areas with innovative conference equipment and a larger lobby. Bowed-glass walls, "flying" bridges and a suspended wine tower with 1,500 bottles of wine, characterize this iconic hotel building, which houses 428 lavish rooms and suites, and one of the biggest conference facilities in town. Living up to its commitment to being the most innovative and responsible hotel company, energy efficiency was at the heart of the project.

Radisson Blu, a favourite amongst meeting and events planners, is ideally located with its own motorway access, 15-minute transfer time to the international airport, within walking distance from the convention centre, and close to the city centre.

The construction of the additional conference space started in January 2014. The futuristic highlight is a two-level showroom with direct access to the terrace and a car driveway. This glazed multi-purpose room with abundant natural daylight is the new centre-point for creative and attractive events in Frankfurt. Intelligently incorporated into the building’s unique architecture, it was created above the outdoor areas of the ‘Gaía’ restaurant. The mezzanine level above the lobby, with its 1500-bottle wine tower, is also extended to feature six new flexible meeting rooms. As a responsible business, energy efficiency was at the core of this extension project ensuring that the voids in the atrium will be filled and resulting in less energy consumption required for heating and cooling.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Frankfurt is set to become one of the most innovative hotels in town in terms of multi-media and conference technology. “We have installed some of the best technology in our meeting and event facilities to help our customers host successful and effective meetings at our hotel,” says Helge Lütters. “Our new generation of video, lighting and conference fittings take into account the ever increasing requirements of our tech-savvy guests. It is our aim to provide intuitive, easy to use interfaces, creating a professional infrastructure for wireless connectivity and interaction for multiple persons or device types.”

This means that the time-consuming typing of notes or tedious printing/photocopying of large presentation will be a thing of the past. The KFP DigiChart interactive flip-chart and whiteboard system instantly records all content for the participant’s computers, while the newly acquired KFP Multipad takes things one step further, combining presentations, video conferences and a white board in one. This gigantic touch-tablet makes every conference room a co-operation room. Different documents and image material can be presented or exchanged, and comments and notes stored and emailed via touch. The features also include a noiseless laser projector, and an Augmented Reality for impressive 3D presentations for a vast audience.

“MICE is an important segment for Radisson Blu, Europe’s largest upper upscale hotel brand,” said Willem van der Zee, Area Vice President of Central Europe for the Rezidor Hotel Group. “Our continuous investment in meeting and event facilities, technology and service concepts across our portfolio underlines our position as one of the leading business hotel groups in Europe. With Frankfurt, we expect a return on investment within 3 years.”

Investments have also been made in the façade of this award-winning hotel, which will soon be illuminated with a blue light at night, creating a striking visual. In addition, the newly installed 340-metre LED tubes will allow the building’s iconic design to be seen from afar, giving it a prominent place in the Frankfurt skyline.
