Focus Hotels takes over the management of the Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club

One of the UK’s most successful hotel management companies, Focus Hotels, has announced that it has taken over the management of the four-star Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, Gloucestershire. Appointed on a long term management contract, with effect from 28 April 2014, Focus Hotels will oversee a period of substantial long term investment by the hotel’s new local owners, the McIntosh family. They plan to revitalise the property and re-establish it as one of the area’s finest, securing around 60 jobs.

Peter Cashman, Chief Executive of Focus Hotels Management, added, “We are excited to have been appointed to manage the Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club, a property which we believe has tremendous potential to become a fantastic landmark for the area. We are already in discussions with the McIntosh family regarding their investment plans, and look forward to helping them realise their vision for the hotel”. Plans are being put in place to undertake extensive refurbishment to all areas of the existing hotel and leisure facilities, which includes bringing the bedrooms in the original English Heritage-listed main house back into use.

The four-star Tewkesbury Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club is situated on the historic site of the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury and commands panoramic views of Tewkesbury Abbey and the Cotswold and Malvern Hills. Set amidst 176 acres of mature parkland in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside, yet only five minutes from the M5 and under 50 miles from Birmingham and Bristol, the property is an ideal rural retreat for leisure and business guests alike. The hotel overlooks historic Tewkesbury, with Cheltenham and Gloucester only 15 minutes away.

The hotel currently offers 82 bedrooms, all en suite and with complimentary Wi-Fi; a choice of two restaurants serving locally sourced food; extensive conference, banqueting and wedding facilities for up to 200 guests; and on-site parking.

The par 73 18-hole golf course, currently in superb condition, was designed by the renowned golfer and former President of the English Golf Union, Frank Pennick, and is complemented by a six-hole academy course, driving range, putting green and Pro Shop. The Tewkesbury Park Leisure Club meanwhile offers a selection of spa treatments, plus sauna, steam room, indoor pool, gym, squash and tennis courts.
