It was like going to the most glamorous society wedding of the year.
Hotel Republic recently organised the third annual showcase event for its client, Robinson. The remit was to find a venue with the most magnificent view of London imaginable – and Hotel Republic certainly succeeded in that.
They alighted upon The Cucumber Bar, which sits within the imposing Sea Containers building. It commands a spectacular position on Upper Ground on the south bank of the Thames.
The space forms part of the Ogilvy & Mather office. It is located on the 13th floor of Sea Containers and boasts unrivalled views over St Paul’s Cathedral and Blackfriars Bridge.
We immediately felt that we had arrived at a highly prestigious place the moment we were welcomed at the door of The Cucumber Bar by a woman dressed as an angel.
The heavenly ambience only continued when we entered the bar to find everyone clad entirely in white. The idea was to replicate the unique ‘white party’ concept that takes place at every Robinson Club.
The event, which was attended by 60 key event planners and 60 TUI Leisure agents, afforded us the opportunity to meet one-on-one with each of the Clubs and to find out more about individual resorts and the overarching Robinson offering.
The evening gave us a great chance to network, as well as enjoy some terrific food and drink. To conjure up the sense of Robinson hospitality, we were also treated to an excellent live band with a phenomenally acrobatic singer who thought nothing of spinning round on his head!
Robinson, which has a total of 24 Club resorts all over the world, is an ideal destination for MICE clients. Each resort is unique and has event spaces which can hold from 10 to 500 people for meetings, conferences and incentive events in wonderful surroundings. It is an option for MICE events all year round, because of its wide range of scenic winter and summer locations.
Kai Schomann, owner of Hotel Republic Ltd, said: ‘This event was a great opportunity to re-emphasise the Robinson brand and concept to our UK event planners. We were delighted with the attendance, which included the likes of BCD Meeting & Events, Banks Sadler, Venue & Destinations Solution, Image Events, Pac Conference & Event Management, Line Up, Ball Associates and many more.’ If the idea behind this event was to make the guests at The Cucumber Bar feel like they were on top of the world, it worked!
