The Old Course Hotel, St Andrews, has unveiled its 2018 festive schedule including an enchanted winter wonderland taking place in November, local Scottish dining for Christmas, unbeatable Hogmanay celebrations with fireworks and warming winter spa packages at the hotel’s new Kohler Waters Spa.
The Old Course Hotel provides an idyllic backdrop to the festive season, overlooking the famous links golf course and the beautiful Scottish coastline.
This year, the Old Course Hotel will transform itself into an enchanted winter wonderland complete with carol singers, roaring fires, an incredible selection of mouth-watering food and beverage, Christmas gifts and handcrafted seasonal decorations. There will even be a seasonal grotto where little-ones will have the chance to meet Father Christmas himself.
The Old Course Hotel’s Christmas Emporium will take place from Saturday 24th – Sunday 25th November from 11am – 4pm in the Ballroom and Hall of Champions.
Christmas Day Dining
Guests can leave the labours of Christmas Day behind and enjoy locally sourced Scottish food at two distinctly different, yet delectable restaurants.
A three-course menu can be enjoyed at Road Hole Restaurant, boasting three AA Rosettes and offering views across the famous links course and West Sands Beach.
Starters include a traditional King Prawn and Crab Cocktail served with Lemon Caviar or a Smoked Duck Breast and Confit Leg Pressé. A traditional roast will follow with choices of Turkey, Black Isle beef fillet, Halibut or Wild Mushroom Tart, all served with an array of delicious accompaniments. Sweet treats to finish include a Traditional Plum Pudding or Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse.
Sands Restaurant will also offer a traditional Christmas lunch menu including Oak Smoked Salmon or Pressed Duck Confit and Ham Hock to start, and Roast Turkey with all the trimmings or Braised Daube of Beef for mains. Desserts to follow include Christmas Pudding, Gingerbread Crème Brûlée or Hazelnut Biscotti.
Christmas Day Dinner at Road Hole Restaurant costs £125 per person for three courses. Christmas Day Dinner at Sands Restaurant costs £85 per person for three courses.
The Gourmet Christmas overnight package costs £910 per room based on two people sharing, including a two night stay, mulled wine and mince pies on arrival, Christmas Eve Dinner in Sands Restaurant, Christmas Day Lunch in Road Hole Restaurant, full Scottish breakfast on both days and full access to Kohler Waters Spa.
Winter Spa Break at Kohler Waters Spa
Following a multi-million-pound refurbishment, Kohler Waters Spa reopened this year, focusing on hydrotherapy and marine-based treatments. Guests can pamper themselves this festive season with Kohler Waters Spa’s Winter Spa Break including a relaxing 50-minute facial or back massage, lunch at the spa café, prosecco and canapés and tea and cakes. They will also enjoy full access to the spa’s world-class facilities including the hydrotherapy pool providing therapeutic bathing, cold plunge pool and experience showers featuring Kohler Real Rain™.
The Winter Spa Package costs £420 for two people and includes a one-night stay on a B&B basis, one facial or massage each, prosecco and canapés, one spa café lunch for two, full use of the spa’s facilities, and tea and cakes in the afternoon.
Guests can celebrate Hogmanay like a true Scotsman at the Old Course Hotel with a Black-Tie Gala Ball taking place in the grand Hall of Champions. A six-course dinner, a live band performing traditional Scottish music, and a firework display on the beautiful West Sands Beach will see in the New Year. Road Hole Restaurant will also serve a delicious New Year’s Eve banquet paired with award-winning wines selected by the hotel’s sommelier.
Guests can continue the festivities at Road Hole Restaurant’s New Year Brunch serving breakfast classics including Smoked Salmon with Toasted Muffins and Caviar, Banana Bread French toast and Apple Cinnamon Pancakes and local delicacies such as Stornoway Black Pudding with Smoked Streaky Bacon.
The two-night Home for Hogmanay package starts from £1,180 per person. The package includes arrival on New Year’s Eve to a glass of champagne or spiced apple juice and canapés, black Tie Gala Ball on New Year’s Eve with six-course dinner, fireworks display to toast in the New Year with a glass of bubbles, dinner in the Road Hole Restaurant on New Year’s Day, a full Scottish breakfast on both days and full access to Kohler Waters Spa.
New Year’s Day Brunch at Road Hole Restaurant costs £40 per person including three courses and is served from 12:30pm – 2pm.
