Verdura Resort’s position among the world’s elite golf and lifestyle destinations has been further enhanced after the deluxe Sicily resort received leading international acclaim from Golf Digest, the world’s best known golf title.
The magazine, which has more than 1.6m subscribers in the US alone, named Verdura as one of the recipients of an ‘Editors’ Choice Award for Best International Resorts 2016’ in its first-ever list of the ‘Best Things in Golf’.

Unveiled for the first time in the May issue of Golf Digest, the inaugural list features a select group of leading names from the global golf industry and was compiled with the emphasis on lifestyle properties, products and services.

Host of the Sicilian Open in 2012 and nestling adjacent to the Mediterranean in 230 hectares of stunning landscape, Verdura has everything needed for a relaxing golfing break and features two outstanding 18-hole championship courses – the East Course and West Course – as well as a par-three nine hole course.

Designed by top architect Kyle Phillips and built to the highest specifications, Verdura’s three links-style layouts offer a golf experience to remember, with tee times arranged at 12-minute intervals to ensure free-flowing play, five sets of tees making the courses playable for golfers of all abilities and one of its courses dedicated daily to two-ball play only.

Announcing the award, Jerry Tarde, chairman and editor-in-chief of Golf Digest, told Verdura Resort: “Congratulations on your editors’ choice award. This is part of a first-ever program for Golf Digest that represents the Best Things in Golf.”

Ivan Artolli, Managing Director at Verdura Resort, said: “It is a real privilege for Verdura to have received such a global accolade.

“Golf Digest is probably the most widely read golf publication in the world. Its thoughts and opinions are respected the world over and to have been named in such a prestigious new list is a clear illustration of how far our resort has come in such a short space of time.”

The Golf Digest accolade is the latest honour to be bestowed on Verdura Resort – a Rocco Forte hotel – following a hugely-successful last 12 months that including being named ‘Best Golf Hotel in Italy’ at the 2015 World Golf Awards and retaining its place in Golf World’s benchmark ‘Top 100 Courses in Continental Europe 2015/16’ rankings.

Situated on Sicily’s southern coast between Agrigento and the fishing city of Sciacca, an 80-minute drive from Trapani and Palermo airports, Verdura Resort features 203 rooms and suites – all with a sea view.

Away from the fairways, the resort features an array of other luxury sports and lifestyle facilities while guests also have the opportunity to sample a taste of the gastronomy, wine, history and culture that has made Sicily famous across the world.
