Venuemasters members are best in class at inaugural Academic Venues Awards

Venuemasters member venues have scooped 9 of the 12 awards up for grabs at the inaugural Conference News Academic Venues Awards, hosted at Queen Mary, University of London. The North and Midlands university venues took the majority of the spoils with the University of Leeds, Well Met at Leeds Beckett University, De Montfort University, Nottingham Conferences and Nottingham Conference Centre all winning.

The University of Westminster showcased the London offer, with their Ambika P3 space for contemporary art and architecture, rightly winning Best Exhibition Space. MEETinLEEDS at the University of Leeds will have to buy a new trophy cabinet having walked away with 3 awards; Best Accommodation, Best Accessibility and Best Residential Venue. Across the city, the Best Training Venue award went to Well Met at Leeds Beckett University.  

Midlands venues Nottingham Conferences and Nottingham Conference Centre won Best Outdoor Space and Best Non-Residential Venue respectively. And Leicester was not to be outdone by its neighbouring city, with De Montfort University and College Court Conference Centre & Hotel taking Best Catering Service and Best Customer Service respectively.  

Other award winners on the night were; Best Conference Venue - Solent Conference Centre, Southampton Solent University, Best In-house Technology - 1 Wimpole Street and Best Wedding Venue - The Devonshire Dome, The University of Derby.
