Tourism winners headline White Rose Awards Festival

A festival theme has been announced for this year’s White Rose Awards, with a glittering ceremony due to take place at the Yorkshire Events Centre in Harrogate on 17 November.
The White Rose Awards 2014 will include a gala dinner, incredible entertainment and very special guests.

This year’s event will be in the style of a festival, bringing wellington boot chic to the showground for one November evening.

Covering 16 categories, Britain’s biggest tourism awards include the best Yorkshire attractions, hotels, B&Bs, caravan park, restaurants and many more.

Shortlisted businesses include The Deep in Hull, Wentworth Castle Gardens near Barnsley, Cedar Court Grand Hotel and Spa, York and York Marriott Hotel.

Colin Mellors, chair of the independent judging panel, said: “It’s tremendous to see so many new businesses entering the awards this year, competing with the very best tourism businesses to be found anywhere. As ever, drawing up the list of finalists has been challenging - choosing the winners will be even more difficult.

"Yorkshire has been centre stage this summer for its hospitality and spirit of enterprise, and the White Rose Awards are a celebration of the imaginative and innovative work of colleagues in this key business sector.  With so many brilliant businesses, it underlines just how much Yorkshire has to offer."

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We’re delighted to be at the Yorkshire Events Centre this year for what promises to be an unusual and spectacular White Rose Awards evening. It’s always a memorable evening and this one will be too.

“This year has been one none of us will forget in a hurry, and this year’s awards are the perfect opportunity for us to reflect and say thank you to all the fantastic Yorkshire businesses that have made 2014 such a triumph.”

People from throughout the tourism industry plus celebrities will be attending the champagne reception, gala dinner and award ceremony.
