The Dunstane Houses in Edinburgh is delighted to have won two awards at this year’s Scottish Hotel Awards. The owner-run and operated boutique hotel in Edinburgh’s West End scooped up Boutique Hotel of the Year and Independent Hotelier of the Year for their owner, Shirley Mowat. Over 250 members of the Scottish Hospitality industry attended the award ceremony which took place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa in Edinburgh.

Hosted by Grant Stott, the awards celebrate the accomplishments of Scotland’s best hotels and hospitality professionals. The Dunstane Houses were also a finalist in the Bar Dining Hotel of the Year category and their head housekeeper, Laura Taylor, was highly commended in the Housekeeper of the Year category.

Upon winning the awards, owner Shirley Mowat said “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded Boutique Hotel of the Year from the Scottish Hotel Awards on Sunday. It really boosts both myself and the team after 12 months of hard work and dedication after such dramatic transformation for The Dunstane Houses. I am equally honoured to have been awarded Hotelier of the Year by my industry peers, what a great night!”

The Dunstane Houses comprises two twin-set Victorian town houses – Dunstane House and Hampton House – the first of which unveiled a new look in August 2017 following a six-month renovation project. Home to 16-rooms, it combines understated luxury accommodation with a carefully constructed, Scottish inspired all-day menu and stylish cocktail bar, filling the gap in the city's boutique hotel landscape. Subtly mixing the old and the new with a nod to the owners' Orkney Islands heritage, its evocative interiors combine the neoclassical design of old-town Edinburgh with a modern approach to pared down luxury, creating the welcoming feel of a country house hotel.
