The Dunfermline based company which runs events and team development training across the UK joins others on the shortlist including The Royal Highland Show, Scottish Comedy Agency, Edinburgh University and Northsound Radio.
Team Challenge Company has been shortlisted for Best Use of Technology for their GPS treasure hunt called #DestinationUnknown. The panel of judges included Mark Stewart, from EventScotland; The British Fashion Council’s head of events Josef Jammerbund; and Kevin Jackson, director of ideas and innovation at The Experience is the Marketing.
Team Challenge Company’s #DestinationUnknown awayday was designed to reward staff at Eureka Solutions software company. The client brief was for an event with ‘wow factor’, where event details, especially venue location, were to be kept secret for as long as possible and that would generate a feeling of camaraderie. The event included a highly complex 50 mile long app-based digital treasure hunt with 100 possible routes. Checkpoints included Stirling Castle, Andy Murray’s Golden post-box in Dunblane and Hampden Park. Tasks included recreating movie scenes from the likes of Rocky and Titanic, singing a favourite Disney song and taking group selfies. The day also included challenges and activities from rapping to the ‘Prince of Bel Air’ to gundog training and falconry, and a glamourous James Bond themed evening casino to fit with the delegates’ day of being super sleuths at one of the UK’s most luxurious venues, the world famous 5 star Gleneagles Hotel in Perth.
The pioneering software used for the event has been a huge success in the corporate event markets in the USA, Japan, and the Middle East. Team Challenge Company, which holds exclusive rights for GoTeam in the Scottish market believes its deployment for the #DestinationUnknown event is the first time it has been used on such a grand scale.
Co-director at Team Challenge Company, Gerard Crowley, said: “I am really proud of the whole team who worked on the #DestinationUnknown event, this nomination is testament to their creativity, hard work and determination. We have seen an increasing demand for gamification and this was one of the biggest and most complex events we believe has ever been attempted with the GoTeam GPS treasure hunt software. We are continuing to develop fun and challenging events for our clients and this accolade will only spur us on!”
Results will be revealed in October at a glamourous black tie awards dinner.
