Song Saa awarded 'Trip of a Lifetime' in Fodor's Top 100 Hotels in the World

Last week, Cambodia’s Song Saa Private Island was awarded a ‘Trip of a Lifetime’ winner in the 2014 Fodor’s Hotel Awards.   A leading name in the travel guide industry for more than 75 years, Fodor’s provides expert advice, travel trends, tip ideas and insider advice for discerning travellers across the globe. Their Awards are a celebration of the destinations they cover, revealing the Top 100 Hotels in the World and recognizing properties that provide travellers with remarkable experiences.

Editor-in-Chief Arabella Brown commented that, “Here at Fodor’s Travel, we know our travellers have high expectations from the moment they check into a hotel – and so do we. Our 100 Fodor’s Hotel Award winners go above and beyond these expectations with their winning mix of service, setting, style, and amenities. We're confident that a night at any of these properties will be a highlight of the trip

Known locally as ‘The Sweethearts’, Song Saa Private Island Resort is located across the two private isles of Koh Ouen and Koh Bong in Cambodia’s undiscovered Koh Rong Archipelago. As the first of Cambodia’s islands to be developed, guests of Song Saa have privileged access to a hardly discovered destination; 23 undeveloped islands that are ripe in lush virgin rainforests, tropical reefs and silky white beaches.

Each of Song Saa’s 27 villas promise a sanctuary where guests can enjoy uninterrupted sunset and sunrise views from their private pools or verandas. The Vista Restaurant & Lounge Bar hovers spectacularly over the glistening ocean to provide the most romantic of dining experiences and a haven for guests to enjoy world-class Cambodian cuisine. Song Saa’s Spa and Wellness offerings include over-water treatment sanctuaries and 5 and 7 day healing retreats in partnership with ila spa. With the entire archipelago as a playground, guests can immerse themselves in endless activities:  kayak up fresh water estuaries; hike through virgin rainforest; snorkel with the resort’s marine biologists; take traditional Khmer cooking lessons; visit local fishing villages and indulge in bespoke picnics on Song Saa’s pristine private beaches.

Each year,  Fodor’s invites its roster of 500 global contributors to nominate the best hotels in the destinations they live and write in. Fodor’s senior editorial team deliberated on over 4,000 Fodor’s Choice picks, pouring over the list for months to narrow their top selections. For the first time, readers were also invited to nominate their favourite hotel.
