Sodexo Prestige staff served HIT Scotland scholarships

Two staff members at leading hospitality and events company, Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, have been recognised as rising stars in the industry after being awarded Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland (HIT) scholarships.
Stephanie Lee, Sales and Revenue Manager at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), will jet off to Switzerland to train at Europe’s top hotel school after receiving the Lausanne management scholarship, while Kate Nicholl, Central Hub Enquiry Manager at the company’s South Queensferry headquarters, receives £2,000 of funding to spend on training through the Frank Mullen (bespoke) Scholarship.

Spending four days at the prestigious Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Stephanie will be introduced to the latest hands-on management techniques while Kate will be using the scholarship to improve her knowledge of social media.

Stephanie, whose role was created following the successful extension of Sodexo’s contract with RBGE last year, said: “HIT is a very recognised and respected industry body and being awarded a scholarship is seen as a real achievement.

“The international hotel school has an enviable reputation as the best in Europe and as my new role involves managing a larger team, the training, which will focus on team development, leadership and mentoring, will provide invaluable skills for the future.”

Kate, who joined the company just 18 months ago, said: “I’m really interested in learning how the industry can successfully use social media as a tool to raise enquiry levels and drive bookings.

“The HIT award will allow me to expand and grow my knowledge in this area and as I know there were a huge number of applicants from hotels and hospitality organisations across the country, I’m thrilled to have received this award.”

HIT Scotland aims to provide hands on experience and training to inspire people working in the hospitality industry and has awarded more than 1,000 scholarships and 10,000 bursaries since its inception in 1994.

Amanda Brown, UK Sales Development Director, Prestige Venues & Events, said: “We are really proud of both Stephanie and Kate, who will benefit hugely from the training provided through HIT.

“We are dedicated to supporting the development of emerging talent within our company and regularly put staff forward for recognised training schemes such as HIT, which help staff to progress in their career.”
