The Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) is celebrating a successful first year at its RIBA North National Architecture Centre in Liverpool. On the 24th May 2018 the venue was awarded Best Newcomer to the Visitor Economy at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, which took place at St George’s Hall.

Since its launch in June 2017, RIBA North National Architecture Centre, situated on Liverpool’s historic Waterfront, has hosted over a hundred events. Its high-quality, flexible event spaces caught the judges’ attention due to their contemporary feel and the centre’s unique City Gallery and Digital Media table which are available to hire, providing an environment where delegates can learn more about Liverpool and the processes involved in urban development. Added extras such as a curatorial service, RIBA Liverpool city tours, exhibition guides and talks can also be arranged to enhance the delegate experience.

RIBA North’s event spaces are situated over two floors of the award-winning building. The centre can host events from exhibitions, meetings, training and conferences to product launches, drinks receptions and dinners with capacity ranging from six to 350 people. For conferences, the venue can accommodate up to 70 delegates theatre-style.

Suzy Jones, Centre Director at RIBA North, comments: “We are incredibly proud of how well RIBA North’s first year has gone and this award recognises the team’s hard work and gives us further reason to celebrate.

“As RIBA’s new national architecture centre, RIBA North offers something distinctly different to existing event venues in the North West. In addition to high-class facilities synonymous with RIBA’s London venues, delegates attending events at RIBA North will have the opportunity to discover more about both the city of Liverpool and architecture with educational elements such as exhibitions, talks and our range of walking tours, which can be integrated into an event to add even more value for clients and delegates.”
