The cream of Leicestershire’s tourism industry turned out last week, to enjoy an evening of celebrations at the Leicester and Leicestershire Tourism Awards.
The National Space Centre were nominated in two categories, Business Tourism and Best Large Visitor Attraction, managing to walk away with awards in both.
The National Space Centre Venue team took home the star prize in the Business Tourism category, whilst the Visitor Attraction won the Highly Commended award in its section.
This was the first year the venue had entered the awards as a corporate space and the category had some very stiff competition.
Malika Andress, Head of Marketing at the National Space Centre, said; “We know that the National Space Centre is a unique venue. It is always the perfect fit for a launch event, there are not many places in the UK where you can actually launch in a Rocket Tower, whilst two full sized rockets take off, but we were delighted to hear that the judges chose the Centre for its commitment to working with clients to create bespoke and tailor made packages.”
In addition the judges felt that the winning entry displayed a “very good set of training and development policies and commitment backed up in philosophy” and an “excellent set of USPs, genuinely one of a kind”.
The Centre welcomes around 20,000 corporate guests each year, offering conference and meeting space, unique team building space simulation packages, private dinners in the heart of the interactive galleries, product launches and very soon wedding ceremonies and receptions.
With diverse spaces that include the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium, that allow guests to be immersed in a full dome environment for presentations and awards, right through to dry ice smoking cocktail parties under giant rockets, the team are very proud of what is on offer.
Teresa Maguire, Corporate Manager at the National Space Centre said; “We are delighted that the judges were able to see the full spectrum of spaces and products on offer, as well as the new and exciting developments about to launch. It is great to work in such a fantastic location, where we can work with clients to really make their dreams come true.”
The National Space Centre has worked with some of the world’s largest companies over the past ten years, hosting conferences and events for the likes of Mercedes Benz, Virgin Media, British Gas and Cancer Care UK.
