Beating strong competition from a variety of architectural and interior design companies, EPR Architects was presented with the Interior Design award for its creativity, innovation and excellence in redesigning and delivering a cutting edge concept for the Heathrow Hotel.
The business and leisure venue’s impressive transformation includes 14 fully redesigned, multi-purpose meeting rooms within 1,800 square metres of refurbished space that use state of the art technology to offer unrivalled versatility.
The new facilities offer an event room capacity of up to 480 people with an additional six meeting rooms, all equipped with innovative technology such as Write on Walls, Barco Clickshare, LED screens, Bluetooth sound bars and natural daylight.
Providing an environment which is carefully designed to enable work and play, the space provides comfort and style and leaves guests with a memorable experience. Influences of Heathrow and the close associations of travel are incorporated into the design without being overt; such as the layered design on the carpet which use the shapes formed by the airport runway as inspiration.
The European Hotel Design Awards celebrate exceptional hotel design and architecture, honouring the work of industry leading architects and designers, and the projects they create with hotel developers, owners and operators.
The accoloade follows another recent award for the London based venue, which was also named Best Hotel for Events at the prestigious London Venue Awards earlier this year.
Talking about the partnership with EPR Architects, general manager, Ron Vos, said: “We’re thrilled to have worked with an award winning architectural firm to deliver the kind of facilities our delegates will be blown away by.
“We gave real thought to the design of the conference space and joined forces with EPR to make it a reality – we’re over the moon that the resulting transformation has been worthy of multiple awards.”
Sasha Stupar, Associate at EPR Architects, said: “This space is a re-invention of Conference and Banqueting facilities for our client and is, in our view, a totally unique experience among meeting facilities.
“Each area is designed to support different group dynamics and can be easily rearranged by users for different formats. This new flexibility enables transition from group sessions to individual work, and from work to socialising, which gives the client more control and increases bookability.
“A colour scheme of rich browns, steel blues, and polished copper cultivates a welcoming atmosphere which is also enhanced by the carefully designed lighting.”
