Lancashire County Cricket Clubs CEO wins Business Person of the Year at The Trafford Business Awards 2014

Daniel Gidney, Chief Executive at Lancashire County Cricket Club, has been named the Business Person of the Year at The Trafford Business Awards 2014, held at Emirates Old Trafford on Thursday 10th July.
The Trafford Business Awards were launched by The Advertiser and Manchester Evening News to celebrate the achievements and successes of companies of all sizes based in Trafford.

Daniel’s award was a judge’s choice award and not open for entry. The judges were looking for an individual who stands out from the crowd, has an entrepreneurial spirit and has demonstrated outstanding achievement that inspires others around them. They will also have been instrumental in the success of their business, growing the reputation of their business and the Trafford region.

LCCC Chief Executive Daniel Gidney said: “This may be an individual award, but in my mind I’d like to dedicate this to all of the fantastic, talented staff at Lancashire County Cricket Club, an organisation that is 150 years old. As an individual, you can only ever play a small part in that particular story, and for us, whether it’s the head groundsman, head chef or somebody in housekeeping or guest services, all of these people are proud to wear the Red Rose.”

Daniel went on to say how delighted he was to win the award but what really pleased him is the fact the Emirates Old Trafford has been able to pay such a part in the growing business in Trafford, and in the medium term that can equal more jobs and inward investment.

Paul Harrison, editor of the Advertiser, said: "Daniel is the first Trafford Business Person of the Year and a worthy recipient. The judges felt they needed to honour someone who is leading a business from the front and Daniel certainly does that. I am sure Lancashire and Emirates Old Trafford will go from strength to strength."

Guests at the black tie event, hosted by ITV Granada’s Lucy Meacock, were greeted upon arrival with a welcome drink before being seated and served with a 3-course meal. On completion of the awards ceremony the evening concluded with entertainment from local party band ‘The Story’ and the opportunity to celebrate and network.
