The world-famous destination in Murcia, south-east Spain, is one of six venues to be shortlisted for the top accolade at the event - dubbed the ‘Oscars of the spa industry' - with the winner set to be announced at a lavish prize-giving ceremony at the luxurious St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort in the Maldives on Friday, October 26.
La Manga Club's luxury Wellness Centre is home to 13 treatment rooms covering 2,000sqm and has grown in popularity under director of spa, Raquel Martin, who took over the reins early last year.
Under Martin's leadership, a host of improvements and new services have been introduced including Oriental therapies, new cosmetic medicine techniques - unique to the Murcia region - and the opening of a Nails Bar to ensure the resort spa's reputation continues to blossom.
Nick Montgomery, general manager of hotel, spa and food and beverage at La Manga Club, said: "This nomination is yet more excellent news for La Manga Club and emphasises the importance we place on providing the very best facilities and customer service across the whole resort.
"La Manga Club is regarded as a world-class sports and leisure destination and there is no other resort that can rival what we are able to offer both in terms of choice and quality. And that success will continue to grow over the coming years."
Launched in 2015, the World Spa Awards are a dynamic programme designed to improve standards within spa and wellness tourism by acknowledging organisations that are leaders in their field, and are voted for by leading spa and wellness tourism profesionals, media and customers from across the globe.
La Manga Club, the official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), is no stranger to success having scooped a host of recent awards, including being named ‘Europe's Leading Luxury Resort & Villas 2017' at the World Travel Awards Europe and ‘Europe's Best Golf Venue' at last year's World Golf Awards.
The resort is also home to a host of other first-class sporting facilities including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a new European Cricket Performance Centre, as well as a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 15 bars and restaurants.
