The Best Use of Innovation title was awarded to Hogarths Hotel & Restaurant, which is based in Four Ashes Road in Dorridge, and a certificate and award were presented to the company’s Group Regional Manager, Steven Quick.
The prestigious award is given to a business in the local area which has used innovation or technology in the past two years to enhance an aspect of its business performance.
Areas considered include an idea, product, method or process that is either new to the business, first to market or a game changer with a competitive edge linked to productivity either internally or externally.
Hogarths was recognised for its extensive growth since opening as a bed and breakfast 11 years ago to the wide range of services and packages it now offers guests which includes weddings, outside events, a private island and conference and event space.
Steven said: “Hogarths began as a six-bedroom hotel 11 years ago and it is amazing to think how it has grown.
“Although the building was originally bought to make into a family home it soon became apparent that it could be run as a small hotel.
“Over the past 11 years the hotel’s owners, Helena and Andy Hogarth, have worked hard to turn it into a thriving business which now employs more than 140 staff – the majority are local people – and has become one of Solihull’s and the Midlands’ best-known and valued hotels.
“As a result of this success the Hogarths brand has started to grow and expand, with the acquisition of our Stone Manor Hotel which is a fantastic and fitting addition to the group.
“The win comes on the back of a string of national awards we have won over the last few months, including the highly coveted AA Four Silver Stars award.
“We have also been recognised as one of the top employers in hospitality in the UK at Caterer.com’s annual awards – the UK’s only established and recognised hospitality employer awards. “The team is now hoping for another award win after being named as a finalist in this year's Midlands Family Business Awards, which will be held on November 12.
“The Best Use of Innovation Award is now our sixth accolade in less than a year which is really exciting and highlights the dedication and commitment of the team to developing Hogarths.”
