GTMC presents Award for Excellence to Angela Williams at annual domestic conference

Angela Williams with GTMC Award for Excellence
In recognition of her commitment to nurturing new talent in the business travel industry, the GTMC has awarded Angela Williams, HR Director of corporate travel specialists for its member BCD Travel, an Award for Excellence at its annual domestic conference which was held in London yesterday.

Angela has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the employer-led Trailblazer apprenticeship scheme which was launched in early 2014 and designed specifically for those keen to develop careers in business travel.

The apprenticeship scheme was championed by the GTMC and its own People Strategy Group has been instrumental in defining the criteria for joining and the standards of training on offer. It has been developed by some of the country’s leading employers across both the corporate and leisure travel sectors. Since its launch over two years ago it has enabled a growing number of firms to recruit and train more and more young people entering the travel sector as well as building the skills and knowledge base of existing staff.

GTMC chief executive, Paul Wait, presented Angela with her award at the annual domestic conference which took place today at the Pullman London St Pancras. Themed ‘The changing face of business travel’ the conference focused on how the profile of modern business travel continues to evolve and what the business travel industry can do to meet these changing demands.

Paul Wait commented:   “As the business travel industry is charged with understanding and serving the needs of the next generation of business travellers, it follows that we need to invest in the next generation of travel consultants and advisors. Angela’s commitment has been unfailing since the scheme launched and this award is testament to her dedication to ensuring that the travel sector continues to be an exciting and engaging career path for those with the passion to pursue it.”
