Quorvus Collection is delighted to announce that G&V Royal Mile Hotel Edinburgh has scooped up two wins and four commendations at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2017. The team’s successes follow an exciting year for the hotel which saw extensive refurbishments and record results under the leadership of acclaimed new General Manager Martin Scott.
Matthew Wakeford was awarded Bar Manager of the Year after launching G&V’s new bar Epicurean in November 2016 to huge success. Epicurean has created a new social hub for the bustling city of Edinburgh with its colourful cocktails inspired by the Scottish Colourists, made using home-grown herbs from an EvoGro hydroponic, best known for adorning the country’s top Michelin Star kitchens.
To the team’s great delight, G&V also won the creme de la creme of Scottish Hotel Awards, a Gold Laurel for its environmental policies. The accolade is a nod to General Manager Martin Scott’s green leadership, which has seen a series of environmental additions to the hotel since his start at G&V in May 2016.
Under Martin’s leadership G&V has adopted a series of environmental policies, including adding 180,000 honeybees to the hotel’s roof in a bid to boost the local bee population and provide delicious home-produced honey to hotel guests. The hotel’s ‘G&Bees’ provide enough honey for guests to enjoy with breakfast each day, and for the team to use in cocktails in Epicurean and dishes in Italian restaurant Cucina.
The team are also celebrating the following ‘highly commended’ accolades: Martin Scott - General Manager of the Year, Epicurean - Bar of the Year, Carla Sanchez Playa – Reservations Manager of the Year, Clair Lund – Sous Chef of the Year.
The 14th annual Scottish Hotel Awards gala dinner took place at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow on 23rd April. Over 400 people attended the much anticipated and prestigious event to celebrate the accomplishments of Scotland’s best hotels and hospitality professionals.
This year’s winners were selected after a twelve-month research process and are a reflection of Scotland’s thriving and ever-growing hospitality industry.
