Dorsett Shepherds Bush has announced that it is the recipient of a prestigious Catey Award, in association with The Caterer. Last night, 5 July 2016, Dorsett Shepherds Bush proudly accepted the Accessibility Award at a spectacular ceremony held at Grosvenor House, London.
Since their inception in 1984, The Cateys have cast a spotlight on the industry’s highest flyers, strongest performers and hottest brands

Over more than a quarter of a century, they have become a byword for quality, class and achievement, the awards that everybody wants to win. No wonder then that the industry refers to them as its Oscars Night!

In line with the hospitality industry being welcoming and inclusive  to all, the annual Accessibility Award has been created to acknowledge an operator or hotel that has gone above and beyond in accommodating and catering for people of all abilities. Dorsett Shepherds Bush was able to successfully demonstrate that it offers equal levels of service to customers and complies with all aspects of the Equality Act; based on a firm belief that everyone should have the right to fully participate in community life.

Dorsett Shepherds Bush was also recognised for its Access Statement, which was created to address some of the more common issues that disabled people face, which include but are not limited to: mobility, sight, hearing, learning disabilities or any hidden impairment. The hotel’s  understanding that every guest has different needs is reflected in its commitment to ensuring that the facilities are accessible to all guests and associates equally.

Dorsett Shepherds Bush’s accessible credentials range from staff training through to the hotel’s concept, design and facilities, based on an understanding that an inclusive environment helps to break down barriers and improve disability awareness. Dorsett Shepherds Bush has effectively displayed its expertise in providing an accessible hotel for all and has remained true to its core values of determination, passion and agility.

Hilary Cross, General Manager of Dorsett Shepherds Bush said “We are thrilled to receive the Accessibility Catey Award; accessibility is hugely important in the hospitality industry and we always seek to offer a high level of service to all our guests.  Being a new hotel in West London, we incorporated cutting edge facilities from opening so that we were able to welcome disabled guests and provide an all-inclusive environment in all outlets. We are immensely proud that these efforts have been recognised.”

In celebration of this accolade, Dorsett Shepherds Bush is offering guests and London locals two-for-one on afternoon tea throughout July and August, commencing on 6 July 2016 and available by booking directly with the hotel. For those in the know, the hotel will upgrade the afternoon tea to include a glass of bubbly if the guest says “congratulations on your Catey” so its time to raise a glass to Dorsett Shepherds Bush this summer!
