Beverly Hills wins global luxury award as ‘City Destination of the Year’

Beverly Hills was awarded ‘City Destination of the Year’ at the inaugural Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards Ceremony on 7th November 2016. The awards welcomed a wide audience of leading hotel owners, travel experts and tour operators in celebrating the very best of the luxury travel sector.

Beverly Hills enjoys an international reputation as the home and playground of A-list movie stars and has the world’s most famous postcode – 90210. The city is known worldwide for beautiful weather year-round, acclaimed dining, some of the finest hotels and world-class shopping.

Beverly Hills was one of the biggest winners of the night, receiving not only ‘City Destination of the Year’ but also the ‘Luxury Hotel of the Year’ for the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows. Part of the prestgious Dorchester Collection and affectionately known as ‘the Pink Palace’, The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows is famous for equisite service and legendary guests.

Beverly Hills has recently seen an influx of exciting restaurant, hotel and retail openings, strengthening its reputation as a top spot for the trend conscious. This includes the opening of celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s new restaurant at Montage Beverly Hills, and recent transformations of Mosaic Hotel, Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills and SIXTY Beverly Hills. As well as Ralph Lauren, Alo Yoga and Bally store openings, the city welcomed Bobbi Brown’s first West Coast beauty boutique and Balenciaga’s Los Angeles flagship this year.

The number of openings the city has seen over the last few months alone is a true reflection of the city re-establishing itself as being at the forefront of modern luxury. In Spring 2017, Beverly Hills will welcome the new 170-room Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, designed inside and out by the legendary Pierre-Yves Rochon.

The awards ceremony was hosted by the founder of SGEi and television personality Shane Green, and Luxury Travel Guide Editor-in-Chief, James Drakeford. There were 300 nominees across 30 award categories. Every category consisted of five winners for their respective continent and only one of each category went on to win the global award. The award ceremony was hosted at Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury Street in London celebrating the very best of the best.
