Ashfield Meetings & Events taste award success with Bitesize training

Training Journal awards 2014
The winners of the Training Journal Awards 2014 were announced last night at The Brewery (London) in front of an audience of around 550 sponsors, guests and finalists.
The awards were launched in 2006 and aim to celebrate the very best in learning and development practice. Ashfield Meetings & Events celebrated with 16 other winners by collecting the gold award in the Organisational Development category for their Bitesize training and development programme.

Bitesize was introduced to ensure employees could learn relevant skills, network and share best practice across a broad range of subjects including company initiatives, best practice, soft skills and legislation. As the events industry is fast-paced and time-demanding the training was developed to be up-to-date, accessible and relevant to each individual. In 2013 Ashfield delivered 74 Bitesize courses covering 33 different subjects in six different countries. On average each employee attended six courses in the calendar year.

The Organisational Development category assessed agencies on the success of the programme, focusing on the challenge, the business objectives and the solution. Ashfield provided demonstrable metrics showcasing the success of the programme. The judges praised the innovation created through the level of empowerment staff have in designing their own schedule, the broad range of courses available and the fluid, ever-evolving nature of the programme.

Nicola Burns (Global Managing Director) commented: “We invest a great deal in our staff recognising the hugely important role each individual has in the business. The Bitesize programme is just one of our initiatives that we are proud to offer to all our employees as part of their continued professional development. The programme provides a career path, tailored to each individual, delivering a framework of transferable skills and learnings. It has driven quality, improved succession planning, increased morale and contributed to attracting a top quality workforce within the business. We are currently introducing new and exciting elements to our wider training programme that will be delivered through our recently launched secondary brand SPARK THINKING and will develop our staff’s creative confidence.”
