Ashfield Meetings & Events, the largest full service event management agency specialising in serving the healthcare sector, has continued to support the winner of the Leeds Metropolitan University ‘Student Of The Year’ award. The agency were delighted to present Laura Keenan with a travel bursary following her graduation ceremony on 25 July 2014.

stablished in 1996, the UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Metropolitan University is the leading provider of events education in the country. Laura achieved a first class honours degree in Events Management and now that she has graduated has accepted a position as Project Executive at Ashfield Meetings & Events.

Luke Flett (Head Of Sales & Marketing at Ashfield Meetings & Events) said: "We are delighted that we are able to recognise talented graduates such as Laura who has clearly excelled in her degree. We are even more delighted that she will be taking up a position with our agency as we have no doubt she will be a tremendous asset to both our business and the sector.”

Laura commented on her upcoming position: “Now that I have finished university, I am really looking forward to immersing myself in the industry. I am very eager to be thrown in at the deep end and gain first hand experience of the event world. I am absolutely thrilled that Ashfield Meetings & Events have offered me an opportunity to begin my career and am looking forward to challenges that lie ahead.”

Luke Flett, who is a member of the EVCOM Professional Development Committee, added: “We have worked hard to develop strong working relationships with academic institutions offering event management courses over the years as education, training and continued professional development is very important to our organisation. Anything that encourages and facilitates networking between industry practitioners, lecturers and the student community can only be for the greater good of the industry.”
