Macdonald Group honours Conference & Events Porter of the Year

Organisers have to work closely with a hotel’s senior management when setting up an event, but it should not be overlooked that the delegates mainly come in contact with a range of other members of staff with less formidable titles.
ITCM is therefore happy to report that of the ten employees who received annual awards from Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, one was Mark Taylor who works at the Macdonald Randolph Hotel in Oxford. He was proclaimed Conference and Events Porter of the Year.

He was handed his prize by the Macdonald Group’s Deputy Chief Executive, Ruaridh Macdonald, who thanked him for ‘delivering the highest quality service to Macdonald Randolph Hotel’s business guests’.

In only 24 years Macdonald has become the UK’s largest privately owned hotel group and now has 45 hotels and ten resorts, with 4,500 rooms and 4,000 employees.

Also in the MICE sector and in the top ten award winners was Jennifer Lucas from the Macdonald Berystede Hotel in Ascot. She is Conference and Events Sales Co-ordinator of the Year. Ruaridh said ’she displayed outstanding dedication to promoting Macdonald Berystede Hotel’s conference and events offering’.

The other eight awards were in the categories of Reservationist, Receptionist, Spa Therapist, Fitness Instructor, Housekeeping Assistant, Waiter, Bartender and Chef.

They are all, of course, relevant to ensuring that a group enjoys an untroubled and smooth-running event in a hotel and it is, in the end, a sign of very good top management if staff at every level maintain a high quality service.
