Fay Sharpe, Vice President of BCD Meetings & Events and founder of Fast Forward 15, received a coveted Shine Award in recognition of her mentoring work and championing of female talent in the events sector.
The Shine Awards celebrate the unique skills and contribution that women, and those who support their career progression, bring to the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries.
Fay’s mentoring initiative Fast Forward 15, now in its third year, champions and nurtures female talent and future leaders and was the catalyst for her winning the Mentor of the Year category. She joined a stellar line up of professionals at the black-tie awards ceremony, who were also recognised for their outstanding contributions and best practices.
Fay Sharpe, Vice President of BCD Meetings & Events says: “My Fast Forward 15 initiative is very close to my heart and for me to be personally recognised amongst such a prolific peer group is humbling. I want people to realise that glass ceilings are there to be broken and my year-long scheme ensures that through building confidence, personal brand equity and widening industry networks, our mentees don’t just achieve - they exceed their goals. The Fast Forward 15 programme has helped so many women to succeed and I personally receive huge gratification from giving back.”
