The company, who won the contract in a bidding process, is also hoping it will be celebrating on the night, after National Glass Centre, where it manages catering and events, was shortlisted for Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.
1879 Events Management, which also operates The Beach House, Roker, has managed catering and events at the Centre since its £2.3m makeover in 2013 and also runs its in- house National Glass Centre Brasserie.
Gary Hutchinson, commercial director at Sunderland AFC and 1879 Events Management said: “The Stadium of Light won gold in the Business Tourism category of the North East England Tourism awards in 2009, so we know first-hand how much prestige and recognition these awards can bring to a business.
“Hosting the event this year is an absolute privilege and one which will mean even more should National Glass Centre score victory in its category.”
The North East England Tourism Awards, which are organised and delivered annually by NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with the Northern Tourism Alliance, honour the achievements of the venues, attractions, hotels and service providers who cater for the region’s 67 million visitors every year. This year’s event will feature 15 categories.
