ICC wales
Ahead of its official opening in September, the International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales) has launched a recruitment campaign for 20 new jobs - from Events Manager to Senior Sous Chef – taking the total number of people employed by the venue to 50.

The state-of-the-art venue in Newport, South Wales will launch its recruitment drive with a ‘Love Your Job Career Open Day’ on 1 and 2 August. Taking place at the Manor Suite, Celtic Manor from 10am to 6pm, this is an opportunity to meet the team, see the new ICC Wales and learn more about the opportunities on offer.

There are both front of house and back of house roles available, including Conference and Banqueting Team Leader, Chef De Partie, Floor Manager, Mechanical Supervisor and Technical Services Technician.

All vacancies are expected to be filled and ready for opening later this year. One of the first events that new recruits are likely to be involved with is the high-profile 2019 UK Space Conference. The prestigious event is expected to bring around 1,200 delegates and 180 speakers to the venue in September.

Nancy Mollett, Convention Centre Director, ICC Wales, said: “It’s always exciting to be involved with a project from the very beginning, as I’ve been lucky enough to do with ICC Wales since the initial design planning before we broke ground on the site just over two years ago. Now as the venue rapidly nears completion, we have another new beginning to look forward to and we’re looking for passionate and driven people to come and join our friendly team and help us take this amazing venue to the next stage and beyond.”

Once complete, ICC Wales will provide total floor space for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and events of 26,000sqm – the equivalent size to nearly four international rugby pitches.

An £83.7m joint venture between Celtic Manor and Welsh Government, ICC Wales will accommodate 5,000 delegates and includes a 4,000sqm pillar-free main hall, a 1,500 seated auditorium, 15 flexible meeting rooms, a double-height glass atrium and a 2,500sqm outdoor plaza.
