bmi regional launch four new direct routes from Stavanger starting today

The first direct routes linking the two fastest growing regions in Norway - Stavanger and Northern Norway - start today.  The new routes mean Norwegians can now fly direct, non-stop to Harstad/Narvik Airport (Evenes) and Tromsø - important hubs for the Norwegian oil and gas industry - without having to connect via Oslo. Similarly, new direct flights to Kristiansund and Gothenburg also commence today.

Krabi to join Malaysia Airlines' network

Four flights a week to popular Thai island to launch from 3 February 2014

Malaysia Airlines will expand its South East Asia network with the launch of a four times weekly service between Kuala Lumpur and Krabi, Thailand from 3 February 2014.
MH770 will depart Kuala Lumpur at 14.55 and will arrive Krabi at 15.40. The return flight MH771 will depart Krabi at 17.20 and will arrive Kuala Lumpur at 20.05.

Emirates to upgrade Moscow to double daily A380 operation

Emirates, a global connector of people and places, will serve its Moscow route with a double daily A380 service from 1st August this year.
This second A380, which will operate as flight EK133/134, replaces the existing Boeing 777 operation and increases seat capacity on the route by 15%.

SITA technology makes Schiphol first airport in Europe to future proof passenger processing with NFC

An organization of 80 airlines and ground handlers at   Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport has chosen IT provider, SITA, for another five years. The Schiphol CUTE Local User Board (CLUB), which represents the airport’s common-use technology users, has signed a new contract for SITA’s AirportConnect Open passenger processing platform. Deployed in a virtual environment, AirportConnect Open helps provide an efficient journey for the airport’s 52 million annual passengers.

THAI comments on Thailand's 'State of Emergency'

The Thai Government has imposed a 60-day State of Emergency in Bangkok and neighboring provinces as of today, Wednesday 22nd January 2014, in response to protests and to cope with unrest.

Mr. Wit Kitchathorn, Thai Airways International (THAI) General Manager for UK & Ireland comments: “Thai Airways wishes to reassure all passengers / tourist’s travelling to Bangkok that Thailand’s capital remains a safe place to travel. Our advice would be to avoid any areas where protests are taking place.
