TAP Air Portugal, the leading airline between the UK and Portugal, has launched flights to Banjul, capital of The Gambia. The inaugural flight Lisbon – Banjul took place on Saturday 26 October 2019 with a regular operation now offering three flights a week departing from Lisbon.
Flights between Lisbon and Banjul are being operated by Airbus A320 and depart from Lisbon on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 20:55 and arrive in Banjul at 00:10 the next day, from there they depart at 1:05 (Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays) to land at Humberto Delgado Airport at 6:05 (local time).
The beach, nature and adventure are Banjul's hallmarks that give the African city life: the colourful and lively markets contrast with the white sand of the beaches and the lush green nature that characterizes Banjul. On a cruise across the Gambia River, you can see hippos, monkeys and more than 500 bird species.
Flights between Lisbon and Banjul are available from £210 (one way), with all taxes included, or for the exchange of 23,500 miles, for TAP Miles & Go Customers (one way).
With this new route, TAP has once again expanded its operation to Africa, adding one more country and one capital to its network of destinations on the African continent.
In Africa, TAP flies to Morocco (Marrakech, Casablanca, Tangier and Fez), Cape Verde (Sal, Praia, S. Vincente and Boavista), Senegal (Dakar), Guinea Bissau (Bissau), Ivory Coast (Abidjan), Ghana (Accra), Sao Tome and Principe (Sao Tome), Angola (Luanda), Mozambique (Maputo), Conakri (Guinea Conakri) and now Banjul (Gambia), a total of 11 countries and 17 cities.
In 2018, TAP carried more than 1.1 million passengers on African routes, a growth of 11.3% over the previous year. With new destinations for 2019, TAP will continue the growth path in Africa.
