Cathay Pacific launches Prepaid Extra Baggage booking service with a 20% discount off standard excess baggage rate
Cathay Pacific customers are currently entitled to between 30kg and 50kg of standard baggage allowance, depending on their class of travel. For customers wishing to increase beyond their allowance, they can now prepay online and enjoy 20% off the standard airport excess baggage rate.

For example, a customer can advance purchase up to 50kg of extra baggage allowance per journey, saving £300 (US$400) over the standard rate charged at our airport check-in desk.

Until now, bands going on their Asia tour, scuba divers diving in the Great Barrier Reef, or relatives carrying gifts for loved ones could only pay for excess baggage at the airport. And now, customers have more choice.

We listened to our customers and know that they want peace of mind before arriving at the airport. This newly launched Prepaid Extra Baggage booking service not only helps to reassure customers, but also offer them more flexibility to pay. Crucially, there is a 20% discount if customers book the extra allowance at least 24 hours before flight departure.

Customers on a Cathay Pacific-operated flight from Europe2 bound for Hong Kong, Mainland China, East Asia, or South East Asia can pay £122* (US$160) for every extra 5kg up to a maximum of 50kg.

Customers holding a confirmed booking with Cathay Pacific can prepay for extra baggage by visiting Manage Booking on www.cathaypacific.com or phone the UK team on 0800 917 8260.

With Cathay Pacific’s Airportr partnership, customers departing from London Heathrow airport can also use our Bag Pick-Up and Check-In service, to have all of their check-in baggage, including excess baggage, collected from the comfort of their own home from just £30.
