Finnair will boost capacity on its highly popular Heathrow to Helsinki service from March 31, 2019 for the summer season.
The award-winning Nordic carrier will operate a new daily frequency on the route by adding an extra daily service for customers flying between the two capitals increasing seats by over 20 per cent a day.
In addition, Finnair will further increase its capacity on the London route by replacing on its single aisle A320 flights with a wide-bodied Airbus A330 offering more seats and greater comfort to customers.
During the upcoming summer season, Finnair will operate up to seven daily flights between London and Helsinki, including two wide-bodied aircraft.
Christian Lesjak, Finnair Senior Vice President, Network and Resource Management said: “Finnair’s presence in London and in the UK has been growing steadily over the past few years and we are pleased to add capacity on this important route for Finnair.
“By adding the new midday frequency and flying an additional wide-body aircraft on the route, we will be able to offer even more flexibility and network connections for our customers.”
The A330 will operate on the departing 16:00 service from Helsinki to London, and the returning 18:10 flight from London to Helsinki.
Finnair’s new midday flight will depart Helsinki at 11:40, with the return flight departing from London at 13:50 each day, providing quick and convenient connections in London with Finnair’s oneworld partners.
Operating the A330 will provide more than 50 additional seats per flight compared to the current A321 narrow-body aircraft. Finnair currently operates a state-of-the-art Airbus A350 every day on the first flight leaving Helsinki in the morning and for the return flight from London.
Together the A330 and A350 ensure Finnair’s customers can now enjoy a seamless Business Class experience on flights between London and Helsinki and on to scores of destinations across Asia and the Far East, with fully-flat seats on both outbound and inbound services.
Fares from Heathrow start from £97 return in Economy Class and £514 return in Business Class, including all taxes and charges.
