Qatar Airways becomes a Corporate Partner of the Royal Aeronautical Society

Qatar Airways becomes a Corporate Partner of the Royal Aeronautical Society
On Tuesday Qatar Airways joined the professional body dedicated to the aerospace community, the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS).
On the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow, the airline’s Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, met with the RAeS’s President, Mr. Martin Broadhurst.

An official signing ceremony took place at Qatar Airways’ chalet on Row A 24 at the Dubai Airshow, confirming the new “Corporate Partner” status of the airline.

The entrance as a corporate partner marks the start of a new relationship between Qatar’s national carrier and the organisation. Qatar Airways is pleased to add the RAeS amongst the list of memberships which the airline currently holds.

His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “I am pleased to establish this new close relationship with the Royal Aeronautical Society. As leaders in this industry, we always strive for collaboration and partnerships, driving new synergies, and it is through organisations such as these that we build a foundation of mutual benefits to aviation stakeholders.

“At the Singapore Airshow last year, it was an honour to be presented with a Fellowship to the Royal Aeronautical Society, and it is my aim to continue to introduce bold vision into this industry, to build a legacy of passion and accelerated growth for all travellers worldwide.”

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, the objectives of The Royal Aeronautical Society include supporting and maintaining high professional standards in aerospace disciplines; to provide a unique source of specialist information and to act as a local forum for the exchange of ideas. The airline’s corporate partnership will run on an ongoing basis as a supporter and participant in chapter events and initiatives.

Martin Broadhurst, President of the Society said: “The Royal Aeronautical Society are pleased to welcome Qatar Airways as the latest Corporate Partner to support the Society.

“It is only fitting that Qatar Airways joins a membership of over 20,000 professionals and 200 organisations worldwide, which represents the primary international forum for the exchange of ideas within the sector.

“We are equally delighted that Mr Al Baker will deliver the Brabazon Lecture in November 2016 as part of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s 150th Anniversary celebrations, during which HRH the Prince of Wales will be our Honorary President.

“The Royal Aeronautical Society looks forward to building a long-term relationship with Qatar Airways and supporting their growth in the aviation sector.”

The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) is the world's only professional body dedicated to the entire aerospace community. Established in 1866 to further the art, science and engineering of aeronautics, the Society has been at the forefront of developments in aerospace ever since.

Qatar Airways currently flies to 152 destinations worldwide, operating a fleet of 170 state-of-the-art aircraft with an average age of five years or less.
