United Airlines marks 20th anniversary of Manchester-New York service

United Airlines has marked two decades of nonstop flights between Manchester and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport. 
“United is proud to celebrate 20 years of service from Manchester, and we would like to thank our customers and the local travel trade community for their continuing support,” said Bob Schumacher, United’s Managing Director Sales – U.K. and Ireland.  “Our daily nonstop service offers customers in the North West access not only to New York City but also to hundreds of other destinations throughout the Americas via United’s Newark Liberty hub.”

Stephen Turner, Commercial Director for Manchester Airport, said: “We would like to congratulate United Airlines on reaching this fantastic milestone of twenty years service to New York.  Through their daily New York and Washington D.C. services, United provide our passengers with the opportunity to fly direct to these two hugely popular destinations as well as the ability to connect onto their extensive route network.”

Flight Schedule
United operates the Manchester-New York/Newark service with Boeing 757-200 aircraft featuring a total of 169 seats – 16 flat-bed seats in United BusinessFirst and 153 seats in United Economy, including 45 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.

Flight UA80 departs Manchester daily at 9:25 a.m., arriving at New York/Newark at 12:15 p.m. the same day.  The return flight, UA81 departs New York/Newark daily at 7:30 p.m., arriving in Manchester at 7:40 a.m. the following day (all times local).  Flight times are seven hours 50 minutes westbound and seven hours 10 minutes eastbound.

The Manchester flights are conveniently timed to connect at New York/Newark with an extensive network of service to destinations across the Americas.  United operates flights from New York/Newark to more than 300 destinations throughout North, Central and South America and the Caribbean, including more than 100 served nonstop.

Other U.K. Services
In addition to its Manchester-New York/Newark service, United offers seasonal nonstop service from Manchester to Washington/Dulles.  Elsewhere in the U.K., the airline operates up to 17 flights per day from London/Heathrow to Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco and Washington, D.C./Dulles, as well as nonstop services to New York/Newark from Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and (on a seasonal basis) Newcastle.  The airline also operates seasonal nonstop service from Edinburgh to Chicago.
