John Lynch demits office as Jamaica's Director of Tourism

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has announced that John Lynch will demit office as Jamaica’s Director of Tourism at the end of May.  Lynch served in that capacity for five and a half years, culminating with a record-breaking year in 2013 when for the first time the destination welcomed 2 million visitors in a calendar year.

GTMC states HS2 position

As the HS2 Bill Second Reading debate is set for the House of Commons today and petitions against the HS2 Hybrid Bill can be deposited from tomorrow, Paul Wait, chief executive of the Guild of Travel Management Companies argues the case for HS2 from the perspective of the business traveller, “The GTMC has been continually vocal in its support of High Speed Rail and calls for a cross party consensus on HS2. As the voice of the business traveller we would actively encourage those considering to petition against HS2 to reconsider.

Event Business Academy launches Scholarship Programme offering five free places at one-week Summer School

The London-based Event Business Academy is offering the chance for five people to spend a week studying on one of its flagship Summer courses for free.
Event Essentials and Event Essentials Plus are one-week courses in event management, which take place in July. For non-scholarship students, the programmes cost £1,095 + VAT each per delegate, which includes all tuition, course materials, career advice and an internationally recognised course graduation certificate.

DMC Network business leader meets with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and White House Officials to discuss growing tourism while protecting U.S. borders

In late March 2014 Senior Administration Economic Advisors met with travel industry leaders from across the U.S. to discuss ways to promote tourism and stimulate economic growth.
