Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has unveiled the programme for its 2014 European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC), which features distinguished presenters from the region and premier education focused on new business development. In addition, MPI has redesigned the EMEC format with the addition of sunset sessions and MarketSquare – a special expanded area for meeting planners and suppliers to network and explore business opportunities.

  More HBAA members than ever were out in force on Friday 10th January as the Association staged its much anticipated annual dinner. The showcase event, hosted at Novotel West, is considered to be the social highlight of the organisation’s packed calendar of events.

Hotels look forward to positive trading in 2014 but must adapt to demands for genuine service, says HVS London

The hotel industry in the UK and across Europe is facing a positive 2014 with demand on the up from both leisure and corporate guests, transaction activity set to improve and lending becoming more easily available.
Across Europe hotel development remains active with 360 hotel projects ongoing, an additional 60,000 rooms. Many are expected to open in 2014, with the balance in 2015 and 2016. A further 450 hotels (70,000 rooms) are currently at the planning stages, with the majority of projects to be found in the UK followed by Russia, Turkey, Germany and France.

Eyes2market wins Taiwan Tourism UK TV advertising contract

Taiwan Tourism has awarded its UK advertising contract to destination marketing specialists Eyes2market UK Ltd, following a competitive pitch. Gabrielle Alam, Eyes2market UK Managing Director, said: “The project involves implementing TV adverts across a three month period for “Time for Taiwan”, the country’s flagship overseas tourism marketing campaign. The adverts showcase reasons to visit Taiwan including exciting events and culinary experiences throughout the year.”
