mia takes fresh approach to its popular Agents’ Day

The Meetings Industry Association (mia) will be offering delegates even greater access to booking agents when it’s first Agents’ Day of 2018 takes place at Millbrook Proving Ground next month.

Under the new format, the interactive day on 15 March will start with a new ‘Think-in – Talk-in’ session where directors and booking staff from leading agents such as Calder Conferences, Inntel, Sundial SOS, HRG, Venues and Events International, will discuss key industry topics in small intimate groups before rotating to allow for maximum learning and networking.

After lunch, the day will culminate in a fun and competitive motor-themed teambuilding challenge at Millbrook’s leading vehicle testing facility. Each team will be led by an Agent – providing a greater opportunity to network in a fun and relaxed environment.

Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia said: “The mia’s Agents’ Days have always been an incredibly popular event in our calendar. This year we were keen to ensure the event provides even greater opportunities for delegates to meet and network with corporate and agency buyers so have made a few changes for 2018. This year’s event will be more insightful, while allowing attendees even more time with agents.”

In addition to the Agents Day, two other events are taking place in March – the mia AGM and ‘Show rounds to conversions’.

The mia AGM is being held on 7 March at the Central Hall, Westminster. Members attending will hear David Russell, chairman of The Russell Partnership Collection, providing an inspiring talk on the creation, role, content and delivery of global major event strategies and their commercial impact on regional and national economies, followed by a networking lunch.

Delegates of the Show rounds to conversions event will discover how to conduct successful show rounds and present their venue to ensure it matches their buyer’s criteria while honing their negotiating skills. Being held on 8 March at Kilworth House in Northampton, the day will be a blend of enjoyable interactive sessions and active discussions including a practical role-playing session carrying out show rounds to conclude the day.
