One week beyond Brexit: HotelsCombined comments on impact of result on UK travel landscape

Dmitrijus Konovalovas, Country Manager (UK & Ireland) of the world’s leading global hotel price comparison website and mobile app, HotelsCombined, said: “Stoic Brits remain determined to plan their summer holiday and we saw an increase of 2% in searches for UK accommodation by UK users in the first week since the Brexit result was announced. Trusted destinations further afield - such as Thailand and the UAE - are attracting more interest than usual for this time of year, perhaps as a long haul break appeals more than a European holiday this summer.

“We haven't yet seen a wholesale reduction in hotel prices, but as the currency exchange situation evolves that may change. Right now, given the drop in the pound, UK holidaymakers seeking affordable breaks should consider destinations including South Africa, Norway and even Brazil for more favourable rates that deliver value for money.”
