Lendwithcare, which launched in September 2010, is a microfinance-lending website from the development charity CARE International UK. Event Connections, who has supported the charity since it was first established, has funded 15 entrepreneurs, directly supported 60 family members and has created four jobs as a result of its initial investment. Each year the Event Connections’ team nominate who they wish to invest in and the amount that is given is calculated as part of its CSR commitment.
The charity allows individuals and groups to make small loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries with the promise that the loan will be repaid gradually. As of 2015, the organisation has helped 17,000 entrepreneurs with the help of over 21,000 lenders.
Andy Barr, Director at Event Connections, comments: “Lendwithcare is such a great charity to support and at Event Connections we are proud with what has been achieved as a result of our contribution. We want to help spread the message and hopefully encourage other event businesses to take some time to get involved. The results speak for themselves and the investment is well worth it. ”
Tracey Horner, Head of Lendwithcare, adds: “We are delighted that Event Connections has been supporting poor people in their endeavours to provide a better life for their families by starting or growing a small business. Since joining Lendwithcare in 2010 it has supported 15 entrepreneurs from around the world. This has had a wider impact on 60 family members. We hope that Event Connections has enjoyed seeing the difference it has made.”
