Showforce and ACS show heart at ExCel

ESC Congress 2015 full conference set
Showforce has provided crewing services to European audio visual specialist ACS audiovisual solutions, who are assisting the European Society of Cardiology, with the delivery of ESC Congress 2015, the world’s largest and most influential cardiovascular event. Held at London’s ExCel from Saturday 29 August - Wednesday 02 September 2015, this impressive event boasts over 500 expert sessions, more than 180 exhibitors and is attended by an expected number of 33.000 healthcare professionals from 140 countries.

As the event occupies every hall in the North wing of Excel and the Auditorium it was a large build that required lots of kit, which in turn meant the need for plenty of crew. Onsite from 22nd August to 27th August for the build, Showforce provided almost 60 crew members who transformed the North halls into 18 separate conference rooms. With an initial team laying truss perimeters for each space, two additional teams followed behind rigging motors and raising the truss structures in to the air. Once the truss was at working height, a further team of crew partitioned each room, tying drapes along the truss perimeter. Vital that noise didn’t bleed from one space into another, the crew also secured sound proof material in the rooms that were adjacent to each other.

Showforce crew members also assisted ACS audiovisual solutions with the installation of lighting, setting up of projector screens and building stages.

Chris Martelly, Showforce’s operations director commented: “This was a huge build and we were delighted to be ACS’ chosen crew supplier for the project. We’ve worked with them on a number of occasions when they’ve had events in the UK and built up a good working relationship. They know they can rely on us to deliver reliable, experienced crew and we have a good understanding of how they operate.”

Chris van Vendelo, ACS’s project manager for ESC commented: “For ACS audiovisual solutions it is essential to be able to rely on professional local crew for each build and de-rig that we undertake wherever we are in Europe. Tight schedules can only be met if all crew have the same mind-set. Showforce has proven time and time again to be a reliable partner and we are happy to work with them on the following occasion.”

The Showforce crew will return to Excel on 2nd and 3rd September to assist with the de-rig of the event.
